my way is to make paintings, construct them, wood, glue and gesso...
by hand, not paint them
the subject of my paintings is the neighborhood I work in and the
people who live there, family and friends
Whiting and rabbit skin glue... a traditional gesso, for panel painting, layered
over wood, painted, erased over time, more layers
a painting/object the size of a head has the same haircut a Erigo.
Paintings can conjure the tone of light that reminds you of a place
or the mark on a friend face.
a real shadow is cast by the framed irregular edge, recalls a painted shadow.
It's that same kind of transformation, a pure thought being rendered as material entity
